Information on the weights and weight-related details of your Fendt caravan:
When selecting and configuring your Fendt caravan, you should take into account that each Fendt caravan is designed by the manufacturer
for only one permissible maximum mass, which must not be exceeded while driving. The applicable legal provisions on caravan weights,
which we have summarised for you below, result from Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/535 of 31st March 2021, which
applies uniformly throughout the European Union. Please read the following information carefully before selecting and configuring your
Fendt caravan. If you have any questions, please also feel free to contact your Fendt caravan dealer.
1. Technically permissible maximum laden mass
The "technically permissible maximum laden mass" refers to the maximum weight specified by the manufacturer that your Fendt caravan may
have when loaded while driving. Please note that exceeding the technically permissible maximum laden mass while driving can lead to a
safety risk and is punishable by fines in many European countries. We therefore recommend that you weigh your Fendt caravan before each
trip and ensure that the technically permissible maximum laden mass is not exceeded. The technically permissible maximum laden mass
specified by the manufacturer can be found for each layout in the technical specifications.
2. Mass in running order
The "mass in running order" is the weight of the empty caravan in its standard configuration according to the manufacturer's specifications,
and includes the following items:
- The standard fittings and furnishings of the caravan according to the manufacturer's specifications
- The mass of the body and the coupling device
- The fresh water tank, 100% full, with fill level for driving (10 l)
- The water heater, 100% full
- The toilet flushing tank, 100% full
- One aluminium gas cylinder, 100% full, weighing 17 kg (fill level: 11 kg).
The mass in running order is also provided in the technical specifications for each layout.
Please note, however, that these are calculated values from the type approval procedure, which are subject to legally permissible tolerances
of up to ± 5%, which, in turn, can have a direct influence on the remaining payload and vehicle load capacity of the Fendt caravan in question
(see also under 4.).
Example:
Mass in running order per the technical specifications |
1.271 kg |
Legally permissible tolerance of ± 5% |
± 64 kg |
Legally permissible range for the mass in running order |
1.207 – 1.335 kg |
The legally permissible range for the mass in running order is also provided in the technical specifications.
Since the legally permissible tolerances can influence the remaining payload and the vehicle load capacity of the individual Fendt caravan in
question, you should consider the permissibility of such tolerances when configuring your Fendt caravan.
Example:
If the caravan from the example above has legally permissible tolerances of + 1% for the mass in running order, the latter increases from
1,271 kg to 1,284 kg, which reduces the payload and the remaining load capacity of the caravan by 13 kg.
3. The actual mass of the caravan and the standard/optional fittings and furnishings
The "actual mass" of the caravan includes the mass in running order and the optional fittings and furnishings installed at the factory.
The "standard fittings and furnishings" describes the basic configuration of a vehicle with all the legally required equipment features. This
also includes all equipment parts affixed as standard. Detailed information on the standard fittings and furnishings for each layout can be
found in the configurator.
The "optional fittings and furnishings" includes all equipment parts that do not form part of the standard fittings and furnishings and are
attached to the caravan ex works under the responsibility of the manufacturer. However, accessories that are installed by you or a trading
partner after the caravan has been delivered from the factory are not considered optional fittings and furnishings. Information on optional
fittings and furnishings that can be ordered from the factory can also be found in the configurator.
It is important to note that the installation of optional fittings and furnishings always leads to a reduction in the payload and the vehicle load
capacity of the caravan (see also under 4.). The maximum mass for optional fittings and furnishings that can be ordered ex works for each
Fendt caravan and each layout can be found in the technical specifications (see also under 5.).
4. (Minimum) payload and vehicle load capacity
The "payload" of a caravan is determined by deducting the mass in running order and the mass of the optional fittings and furnishings from
the technically permissible maximum laden mass. For caravans, the payload essentially corresponds to the "remaining vehicle load capacity".
Example:
Technically permissible maximum laden mass |
1.500 kg |
Mass in running order per the technical specifications |
1.271 kg |
Mass of the selected optional fittings and furnishings |
0 kg |
Remaining vehicle load capacity (payload) |
229 kg |
Please note, however, that the payload, and thus also the remaining vehicle load capacity, can be reduced accordingly on account of legally
permissible tolerances in the mass in running order of up to + 5% (see also under 2.).
European legislators prescribe a fixed "minimum payload" for caravans for luggage and other items that do not form part of the optional
fittings and furnishings installed at the factory. This is to ensure that you can transport your personal luggage, such as clothing, toilet and
kitchen equipment, food, camping equipment or toys, without thereby exceeding the technically permissible maximum laden mass.
This minimum payload is calculated for caravans as follows:
Minimum payload in kg ≥ 10*(n + L)
n = maximum number of sleeping places and
L = vehicle body length in metres.
Example:
For a caravan with 4 sleeping places and a body length of 5.89 m, the minimum payload is 98.9 kg (10*[4+5.89]). Information on the number of sleeping places can be found for each layout in the technical specifications.
Angaben zur Anzahl der Schlafplätze finden Sie für jeden Grundriss in den technischen Daten.
Please note that, when you configure your caravan, the legally prescribed minimum payload must not be fallen short of. If, as a result of
the selection of optional fittings and furnishings, the actual vehicle mass is increased to such an extent that there is no longer enough free
mass between the actual vehicle mass and the technically permissible maximum laden mass for the legally prescribed minimum payload, you
must either increase the vehicle's permissible maximum mass or deselect optional fittings and furnishings in order to be able to continue the
configuration and ordering process.
Make sure that the technically permissible maximum laden mass is not exceeded in the calculations by checking with your Fendt caravan
dealer if necessary..
5. Maximum mass for optional fittings and furnishings
In order to ensure that the technically permissible maximum laden mass of our Fendt caravans is not exceeded by the installation of optional
fittings and furnishings, taking into account the mass in running order and the legally prescribed minimum payload, we have limited the
installation of optional fittings and furnishings by the manufacturer and have specified a "maximum mass for optional fittings and furnishings".
This maximum mass for optional fittings and furnishings is calculated by deducting the mass in running order and the minimum payload from
the technically permissible maximum laden mass.
Since the mass in running order, as a calculated value, is subject to legally permissible tolerances of up to ± 5%, and the occurrence of
these tolerances can lead to the actual payload falling below the minimum required payload, we take account of the legally permissible
tolerances in the maximum mass for optional fittings and furnishings as a precaution. Special equipment features of country variants and
special models that do not form part of the standard fittings and furnishings are also taken into account.
The maximum mass for optional fittings and furnishings is shown for each layout in the technical specifications.
Example:
Technically permissible maximum laden mass |
1.500 kg |
Mass in running order per the technical specifications |
1.271 kg |
Legally permissible tolerance of + 5% |
+ 64 kg |
Mass in running order, taking into account the legally permissible tolerance |
1.335 kg |
Minimum payload |
99 kg |
Maximum mass for optional fittings and furnishings |
66 kg |
Total remaining vehicle load capacity (payload) |
165 kg |
