Notes on vehicle weights and weight-related figures

Information on the weights and weight-related figures of your Fendt-Caravan:

When selecting and configuring your Fendt-Caravan, you should be sure to take into account that every Fendt-Caravan is designed by the manufacturer only for a maximum permissible total mass, which may not be exceeded during travel. The applicable legal provisions on caravan weights, which we have summarised for you below, result from Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/535 of 31.03.2021, which applies uniformly throughout the European Union. Please read the following information carefully before selecting and configuring your Fendt-Caravan. 1. The technically permissible total mass

The "technically permissible total mass" refers to the maximum weight, determined by the manufacturer, that your Fendt-Caravan may have when loaded during travel. Please be sure to note that exceeding the technically permissible total mass during travel can pose a safety risk and is punishable by fines in many European countries. We therefore recommend weighing your Fendt-Caravan before every journey and ensuring that the technically permissible total mass is not exceeded. The manufacturer-defined technically permissible total mass can be found for each floor plan in the technical data.

2. The mass in running order

The "mass in running order" is the weight of the empty caravan as standard according to the manufacturer's specifications, which comprises the following items:

• the standard equipment of the caravan according to the manufacturer's specifications,
• the mass of the body and the towing device,
• the 100 % filled fresh water tank with travel filling (10 l),
• the 100 % filled water heater,
• the 100 % filled toilet flush tank,
• a 100 % filled aluminium gas cylinder weighing 17 kg (filling quantity: 11 kg).

The mass in running order is also specified for each floor plan in the technical data. However, please note that these are values calculated from the type approval procedure, which are subject to legally permissible tolerances of up to ± 5 %, which in turn can have a direct influence on the remaining payload and load of the specified Fendt-Caravan (see also point 4).

Example:

Mass in running order according to technical data	1.271 kg
Legally permissible tolerance of ± 5 %	± 64 kg
Legally permissible range of the mass in running order	1.207 – 1.335 kg

The legally permissible range of the mass in running order is also specified in the technical data. Since the legally permissible tolerances can affect the remaining payload and the load of the individual Fendt-Caravan, you should consider the admissibility of such tolerances already when configuring your Fendt-Caravan.

Example:

If legally permissible tolerances of + 1 % apply to the mass in running order of the caravan from the example above, this increases from 1.271 kg to 1.284 kg, reducing the payload and the remaining load of the caravan by 13 kg.

3. The actual mass of the caravan and the standard/optional equipment

The "actual mass" of the caravan includes the mass in running order and the factory-fitted optional equipment.

The "standard equipment" describes the basic configuration of a vehicle with all legally required equipment features. This also includes all standard-fitted equipment parts. Detailed information on the standard equipment for each floor plan can be found in the configurator.

The "optional equipment" comprises all equipment parts that are not part of the standard equipment and are fitted to the caravan ex works under the responsibility of the manufacturer. Accessories that are installed by you or a sales partner after the factory delivery of the caravan, on the other hand, are not part of the optional equipment. Information on the optional equipment available to order ex works can also be found in the configurator.

It is important to note that the installation of optional equipment always leads to a reduction in the payload and the load of the caravan (see also point 4). The maximum mass of optional equipment that can be ordered ex works for each Fendt-Caravan and each floor plan can be found in the technical data (see also point 5).

4. The (minimum) payload and the load

The "payload" of a caravan is determined by subtracting the mass in running order and the mass of the optional equipment from the technically permissible total mass. For caravans, the payload generally corresponds to the "remaining load".

Example:

Technically permissible total mass	1.500 kg
Mass in running order according to technical data	1.271 kg
Mass of the selected optional equipment	0 kg
Remaining load (payload)	229 kg

However, please note that the payload and thus also the remaining load can be reduced accordingly due to legally permissible tolerances of up to + 5 % in the mass in running order (see also point 2).

For caravans, European legislators prescribe a fixed "minimum payload" for luggage and other items that are not part of the factory-fitted optional equipment. This is intended to ensure that you can transport your personal luggage, such as clothing, toilet and kitchen equipment, food, camping equipment or toys, without thereby exceeding the technically permissible total mass when loaded.

This minimum payload is calculated for caravans as follows:

Minimum payload in kg ≥ 10 * (n + L)
n = maximum number of beds and
L = body length of the vehicle in metres.

Example:

For a caravan with 4 beds and a body length of 5,89 m, the minimum payload is 98,9 kg (10 * [4 + 5,89]). Information on the number of beds can be found for each floor plan in the technical data.

Please note that the legally prescribed minimum payload may not be undercut when configuring your caravan. If the actual vehicle mass increases so much due to the selection of optional equipment that there is no longer enough free mass between the actual vehicle mass and the technically permissible total mass for the legally prescribed minimum payload, you must either uprate the vehicle or deselect optional equipment in order to continue the configuration and ordering process.

Ensure that the technically permissible total mass is not exceeded even in calculation terms, by consulting your Fendt-Caravan sales partner about this if necessary.

5. The maximum mass for optional equipment

To ensure that the technically permissible total mass of our Fendt-Caravans is not exceeded by the installation of optional equipment, taking into account the mass in running order and the legally prescribed minimum payload, we have limited the installation of optional equipment at manufacturer level and defined a "maximum mass for optional equipment".

This maximum mass for optional equipment is calculated by subtracting the mass in running order and the minimum payload from the technically permissible total mass.

Since the mass in running order, as a calculated value, is subject to legally permissible tolerances of up to ± 5 % and the occurrence of these tolerances can lead to an actual undercutting of the minimum payload, we factor the legally permissible tolerances into the maximum mass for optional equipment as a precaution. Special equipment features of country variants and special models that are not part of the standard equipment are also taken into account.

The maximum mass for optional equipment is specified for each floor plan in the technical data.
